Good, trying to help a friend with a 4x4 model. I have a regular highway star so I am not familiar with it. He says this 4x4 light is on even though the switch is in 2wd mode.

My E51 also has the 4x4 error light on.

My 2wd/auto/LOCK indicator lights are out and the buttons do nothing. I am confident it is actually in auto

I am taking it to a mechanic who thinks their scan tool can read it this morning, will let you know how i go

I'm sorted. My car had both abs and BCM error codes, they have now been reset and all seems well.

The guy said not to do anything unless the codes resurface.

I understand that it means Body Control Module

Not absolutely sure what it does at this stage, so far have not found any reference to it in the service manual.

But I am thinking it controls the body's functions (door locks, opening closing, sunroofs, windows etc)

Hey DrSnapid,
who was the mechanic who cleared the error codes for you? Was it a Nissan dealer? I'm having trouble finding a mechanic who can connect and read ABS error with a scanner.

Thanks.

He was just a local mechanic here in Grafton who is a bit of an import buff. None of the other mechanics I tried could read it (i think i tried 4 before someone suggested this guy)

I dont know what he calls himself but he's the mechanic in the BP Marina service station in Skinner Street, South Grafton. If you want his contact details let me know and i'll find out more for you.

Thanks for that. Turns out one of the ABS sensors was failing (wire broken when someone changed the strut) - I'm hopeful once replaced the light will auto off.
